WIRE & CABLE ENGINEERING

Voltage drop calculator.

See how much voltage reaches the load. Include the supply path,
return path, and connection resistance for a DC or AC resistive estimate.

i

DC and AC resistive estimate. For AC systems up to 800 Hz, assumes approximately sinusoidal steady loading, near-unity power factor, negligible cable reactance, and negligible AC resistance effects. Enter RMS voltage and current for AC. Use the actual supply-and-return current path; three-phase line-to-line calculations are not supported automatically.

01

Circuit conditions

Enter the current expected during the operating condition being evaluated. The drop limit is your design criterion; the result is not a compliance determination.

02

Supply & return wiring

Enter each physical conductor length once. The calculator sums all segments; it does not automatically double the run length. The first two segments represent supply and return by default.

Total resistance of contacts, splices, switches, or a structural return path. Include only resistance not already represented by the wire segments.

Resistance & loss breakdown

Voltage drop = current × resistance. Power loss = current² × resistance. Additional path resistance is included in both the total and the breakdown.

Qualified engineering personnel must review applicable standards, aircraft and equipment requirements, manufacturer specifications, installation conditions, and the complete engineering design before use.
